2020 Can-Am Spyder RT First Look Preview

The luxury tourer gets even more creature comforts.

Can-Am is giving touring riders even more creature comforts with its updated 2020 Spyder RT line, which starts at $23,299 for the base RT and goes up to $27,299 for the RT Limited.

“The new Can-Am Spyder RT reflects what we’ve learned from owners over the past 10 years since we first unveiled the touring lineup,” said Josée Perreault, senior vice-pPresident, Can-Am On-Road at BRP, in a company release. “Spyder RT riders have explored millions of miles of open road, and we’ve reimagined the ideal road trip vehicle based on their feedback. This is the result, and it truly is an ultimate riding experience.”

The RT models get new LED headlights and a revised cockpit for improved rider and passenger comfort. Some of the new elements include extended floorboards, allowing you to shift through a broader range of leg positions, and updated heated seats for rider and passenger. The seats are also designed to provide ample lumbar support, making long -hauls more comfortable. Seating is lower than previously as well.

The RT Limited offers up to 47 gallons of luggage capacity.Can-Am

The RT also gets a revised windshield, with electric adjustment and memory function so you can always be sure it’s in the optimal position for the conditions.

Riders can utilize up to 47 gallons of storage capacity on the Spyder RT Limited, and up to 31 gallons on the standard RT. The top case is big enough to fit two XL helmets side -by -side and is mounted utilizing a LinQ system that allows for quick addition/removal of cases. The LinQ system is compatible with other Spyder accessories, including coolers and sport bags, so riders can customize the luggage configuration to their preference. Or, if you want a more sleek look, leave the top case at home.

The RT models are powered by a Rotax 1330 ACE, liquid-cooled triple, rolling on double A-arm front suspension with Sachs Big-Bore shocks and a Sachs rear shock with air preload adjustment. Each has a 7-gallon fuel tank, Brembo braking kit at the front, semi-automatic transmission with reverse function, and a host of electronic systems including stability control, ABS, traction control, and dynamic power steering.

Can-Am will also be offering its entry-level Ryker (starting at $8,499) in 2020. The smallest Spyder debuted last year and was a hit with riders who weren’t the typical demographic for the three-wheeler.

“The Can-Am Ryker has been a phenomenon since we unveiled it last year,” continued Perreault. “It is cracking the code of how to grow the sport, which has been an industry-wide challenge for years. We are committed to democratizing the open road, and the Can-Am Ryker is proving to be an ideal vehicle to get it done, for both men and women across a wide range of ages.”

Can-Am will also be expanding it’s Rider Education Program in 2020 to help more riders experience the Spyder. To date, more than 18,000 riders have taken part in the program.
