If “murdered out” is part of your everyday vernacular, you’ll be interested in Alpinestars newest editions to the Black Shadow collection. Building on the success of last year’s leather offerings, these textile pieces carry the same street cred and protection with a reduction in both weight and price compared to their cow-based brethren.
The Enforce Drystar Jacket is constructed of a heavy duty 450 denier polyamide textile and features stretch panels on the sleeves and waist for a more secure fit. Keeping the elements out is a full-length 100% Drystar liner and when the mercury rises, the long-sleeve sonic-quilted thermal liner is removable. CE-certified protection lines the shoulders and elbows on the inside while another level of security comes from the race-derived, dual-density shoulder protection on the outside.
For you, black is the new black—though there are reflective inserts so you’re not totally invisible at night—and the Enforce Drystar Jacket is available in your favorite color, only, but seven international sizes from S to 4XL. MSRP $369.95.
Also new for the Black Shadow collection in 2016 is the Warden Air Jacket (top image). Designed to keep a rider protected when it's simply too damn hot for leather and you rather simply ride free. Constructed of the same heavy duty 450 denier material found on the Enforce, the Warden features welded mesh paneling on the torso and sleeves for major heat evacuation. The removable wind-breaker makes for a more comfortable ride after the sun's rays disappear, but there's no waterproof layer for those rain-soaked rides, just a waterproof wallet pocket for protecting the essentials.
The same aggressive sport fit with pre-curved sleeves also includes the same CE-certified protection in the elbows and shoulders. And for the unlucky riders, the external shoulder impact protectors help reduce shaving down of the jacket, and rider, in the event of a slide.
The Warden Air Jacket is available in 7 international sizes from S to 4XL with an MSRP of $329.95.
Both jackets come with internal pockets for chest and back protectors as well as a waist zipper for attaching to many of Alpinestars riding pants.
Completing the look, the new Warden Glove is made of a stretch poly-fabric with a multi-panel reinforced goatskin palm and includes EVA foam padding in the key impact zones. A fabric layer over-molded to the hard knuckle keeps the matte-black styling at the forefront while also protecting the rider. A short cuff with a velcro closure locks the glove in place, and the capacitive thread on the index finger make it easier to blog about your ride without having to remove your gloves to do so. Available in 6 sizes from S to 3XL, the Warden Glove retails for $69.95.
